Bachelor Of Laws (Three Years) Course (New Scheme)
There is a three year course for the degree of LL.B.(P). The teaching would be conducted through the lecture method and examination would be conducted by the MLSU Udaipur. The University would confer the degree of Bachelor of Laws on such candidates who are eligible for admission as per university guideline for the LL.B. Degree course and have received regular instruction in the prescribed course of study, undergone required practical training, passed all the prescribed examination and being suitable by virtue of that conduct and have fulfilled all other conditions laid down from time to time by the University.
Eligibility
A candidate who has taken the bachelors or the masters degree in any discipline Arts / Science / Commerce / Medicine / Management / Engineering / Nursing / Agriculture / degree of Shastri / Acharya or the degree of Ayurvedacharya / Ayurveda Brihaspati of MLSU or any other University recognised by U.G.C. and has secured a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate in the scheme of 10+1+3 up to 1989 and 10+2+3 after 1989, shall be eligible for admission to the three year LL.B. degree course.
Provide that a candidate holding a master degree in any of the aforesaid discipline shall also be eligible for admission to the three year LL.B. degree course, If he secured a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate.
Thus in conclusion it can be stated that for seeking admission into 3 year law course qualifications needed are only 12th and three year graduation, with 12th being the basic qualification for seeking admission into 3 year law course.
The qualification of 10th, 12th (+2) and graduation may be obtained through any mode (distance / correspondence / open schooling method)
The Legal Education Committee as its meeting held on 30th April 2017 considered the matter relating Rule-5 of the Legal Education Rules 2008 and clarified the definition of basic qualification and eligibility of candidates to get admitted into 3 year law courses.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Bar Council of India may from time to time, stipulate the minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicants, 42% for OBC category* and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicants, to be obtained for the qualifying examination, Degree course in any discipline for Three years’ LL.B. course, for the purpose of applying for and getting admitted into a law Degree Program of any recognized University in either of the streams.
Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a person to get admission into an institution but only shall entitle the person concerned to fulfill other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the government concerned from time to time to apply for admission.” Therefor, the Universities may kindly act per the above said clarifications.
45% marks at the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree indicate merely the eligibility to apply for admission and do not ensure admission.
The eligibility shall be calculated without considering the marks of internal assessment secured by a candidate.
Admission is granted by the admission committee. If a student is employed, he/she shall enclose a Permission Letter from the employer.
Seats are reserved for SC (16%), ST (12%) and OBC (21%) students as per government rules. However If seats remain vacant in reservation quota, they will be filled out of the general category.
EXPLANATION
A regular course of study includes the prescribed percentage of attendance (presently 70% as required by the Bar Council of India, subject to the revision by the Bar Council of India from time to time by the candidate in all the lectures delivered in each paper and also study as may be prescribed from time to time. A candidate, whose name has been struck off the rolls for non-payment of dues in time may be readmitted in the same class on payment of prescribed fee and outstanding dues.
